Jack Radsliff Quartet ft. George Colligan Cover

Jack Radsliff is on the short list of jazz guitarists in the Pacific Northwest. As a bandleader, his trio has become a fixture at clubs throughout the region. As a collaborator, Radsliff is a first-call for many; frequently playing in the bands of Ron Steen, Michael Raynor, Cyrus Nabipoor, Galen Clark, Christopher Brown, Chuck Israels, Alan Jones, Kerry Politzer, George Colligan, Dan Balmer, Idit Shner, Kathleen Hollingsworth, Torrey Newhart and many more: a veritable who’s who of Oregon’s jazz musicians. In addition to his steady work around the PNW, last year afforded Jack opportunities to work as sideman to Jonathan Pinson, Greg Ward, Domo Branch and Charlie Brown; release his sophomore record “Barefoot” (PJCE Records) featuring Randy Porter, Todd Sickafoose and Alan Jones; and tour the west coast extensively with Ian George, Cyrus Nabipoor and the Jack Radsliff Trio.

Jack’s playing can be heard on more than a dozen records to date. His own records, “Migration Patterns” (2017) and “Barefoot” (2024), have been well received; both making it onto critics “best of” lists. In his relatively short recording career, Jack has contributed to releases from Cyrus Nabipoor, Tony Glausi, Martina DaSilva, Dan Rossi, Machado Majiga and Pablo Rivarola. George Colligan has earned an international reputation as a multi-instrumentalist (drums, trumpet, organ, keyboards), composer, accompanist, teacher and bandleader, as well as a widely read jazz blogger. Winner of the 2015 DownBeat Critics Poll (Keyboard), he has maintained a long-standing musical association with jazz legend Jack DeJohnette, including extensive U.S. touring with An Evening with Jack DeJohnette and Savion Glover. More recently, Colligan toured the U.S. and Canada as a leader with his trio featuring Buster Williams and Lenny White.

Throughout his career, George Colligan has toured, recorded and performed as a sideman with an exceptional list of jazz luminaries, among them Lonnie Plaxico, Gary Bartz, Benny Golson, Miguel Zenón, Tom Harrell, Steve Coleman, Eddie Henderson, Jane Monheit, Michael Brecker, Nicholas Payton, Christian McBride, Mingus Big Band, Lee Konitz, Randy Brecker and Stefon Harris, among many others.

Critical response to Colligan’s work has been consistently strong. All About Jazz has described him as “an equally deserving torch-carrier of the piano trio tradition,” while Jazz Times has praised his technique and improvisational mastery, noting performances that have inspired standing ovations and affirming his place among the most accomplished creative artists of his generation.
